The Mies Van der Rohe Barcelona chair, designed for The German Pavilion, was that country’s entry for the International Expo in Barcelona in 1929. It was designed in case Spanish royalty wished to sit during their tour of the Expo (they didn’t) This iconic chair design resulted from a collaboration between famous modernist architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and the architect and designer Lilly Reich. An icon of modernism, the design of the Barcelona chair was inspired by folding chairs of ancient times.

Our high quality mid century modern reproduction has a polished stainless steel frame with either full genuine Italian leather or environmentally conscious bonded leather* covered cushions. Some minor assembly required.
Dimensions: h73cm x w80cm x d78cm, seat height 46cm.
*Bonded leather incorporates scraps of recycled leather remnants, which comprise between 10-20% of its content. The scraps of leather are made into a pulp and stuck to a fibre or paper backer which is then coated with polyurethane and embossed to give it the appearance of genuine leather.
